On 19th August 2016 at the Esplanade Recital Studio, Kris Foundation presented Musings of an Artist, featuring pianist Dr. Khoo Hui Ling. Dr. Khoo rst appeared with Kris Foundation in 2013, presenting a solo piano recital, and again in 2015, during The Journey Back Home.
For Khoo Hui Ling, playing the piano is a reflective meditation. It is a vulnerable and precious expression of what is in the heart beyond where words can go. For her doctoral thesis, she produced short documentaries that show how Chinese traditional music and painting come together in Tan Dun’s 8 Memories in Watercolor, culminating in a highly praised multimedia performance of the work. Musings of an Artist: Khoo Hui Ling was a culmination of Dr. Khoo’s doctoral thesis from the University of Oregon, USA.
