On 25th August 2012 at the Esplanade Recital Studio, Kris Foundation presented Regrets and Resolutions: In Concert with Singaporean autist Jed Huang Jia Jia and Japanese pianist Miyuki Washimiya. When Kris first met autist Jed Huangg at a national music competition, his performance captivated her with his strong determination. While he did not clinch the top prize, Jed had no regrets but only resolutions to make. Kris was inspired by his grit and motivation to push himself further.

In Kris Foundation’s first solo flute recital, Jed gave the Singapore premiere of Tan Mizi’s Flute and Drums under the Setting Sun, composed in 1980. This unaccompanied piece was written for Jed’s father, Mr Shao-Jiang Huang (former principal ute of the Shanghai Ballet Orchestra and Singapore Symphony Orchestra). The music describes the landscape of the river under the moon in Spring using a simple melody and uid rhythm and is reminiscent of a roll of landscape painting. This piece has been performed by many renowned autists including Jean-Pierre Rampal, Alain Marion, Guo Liang Han, Sheng Qi He and Emmanuel Pahud.
